What is your former branch of service and military specialty (MOS)?

US Army, 95B (military police).

Why did you choose to join nVent?

I chose to join nVent because I could see the growth opportunities of the company and I fully support the core values.

How did you discuss your military experience and the transferable/technical skills you possess when you interviewed at nVent?

I communicated that I was a veteran. With being a veteran and my experience as a corporate professional, I’ve found that the discipline, loyalty, work ethic and chain of command respect have all worked in harmony to create an attitude and competency that represents the ethos of nVent’s core values.

How do you incorporate your military service into your personal and professional brand currently?

For many years, I was a public speaker involving my time in the military as a distance runner into my platform. I also spoke about the ability to adapt and overcome lessons in the Army, as well as the value of teamwork and collaborative innovation to provide respective solutions. Throughout my transition into a corporate professional and as a consultant for Fortune 1 through Fortune 500 companies, my brand would not have been as exhaustive and desirable if it were not for my time in the military.

What is one piece of career advice you would like to share with others?

Never let your talents and abilities take you further than your character can sustain you. Don’t take a ‘no’ from someone who doesn’t have the authority to give you a ‘yes’. Find mentors in your life and don’t be afraid to ask them for their support.
